Your mindset is what put the USA in this financial crisis. Greedy bastards. You could use some grounding. The point is life isn't about "things". When you die you take nothing with you. He followed his heart and was true to his self till the day he died, he's a real fucking hero.

I think you're both right. You can't dismiss his whole character just by wtaching a movie trailer, I've read the book, he had this amazing journey, not all of us in life can live in the structured, restrained way that society has set out for us. so you're right, but on the other hand, he did cause people he loved pain, he did make some irrational decsisions, so we have to have a lot of perspective as well as understanding and respect when we look at the brave and bold things that he did. fair?

wow maybe if you took the time out, you would be smart enough to realize he did take a gun. and when you decide to live in the wilderness for more than two months, thats what you should do.

all of you that say he's an idiot for going and dying in the wild, you're all retarded. first of all, how many of you have actually read the book? and secondly, that's the whole fucking point. this is a culmination between the trancendental and the naturalist mindsets. he transcends society and survives on as little as possible while subsisting as long as he can on his own in the wilderness.

Ha, I say he wasted his whole life. He's been giving everything, yet he rejects it. To me, that's ignorant. He is selfish, only thinking of himself and not what strain and pain he put his family through. He should use that bright head of his and think.

America truly the Beautiful

Im wrong he did have a gun.I know Im just a narrowminded asshole. I read this book about 10 years ago and I found it interesting. I just think if you look at the situation and what he did it was a bit moronic and arrogant. I mean the kid is dead and why?. Well he ventured off into the wilderness that if you arent trained and disiplined you are going to die. The wilderness isnt a place for soul searching hippies to play poetry with. Its amazing a bear didnt eat him

you don't understand the intention he had..And by the way... he didn't want a compass and he actually had a gun with him...
