His name is Ben Chasny. His band 'Six Organs of Admittance' is what you want, but he fronts a few other more experimental bands.

I've always heard him lumped in with New Weird America and Freak Folk like Devendra, Josephine Foster, and CocoRosie.

eh, current 93 is a very different beast from DIJ/Sol Invictus (both of which are awfully patchy, I know), I'd give it a second try. anyways it's unfortunate that chasny gets lumped in there now because of his current 93 collaboration, his music has nothing to do with pretentious gothicness or the apocalypse.

thanks for uploading this perf! saw B. chasy @amoeba, not really a fan of'apocalyptic folk' which SOA are often lumped together with Current 93, DIJ, Söl invictus, etc. but chasny's music just has a certain quality that draws me to it, much prefer his vocals over Tony Wakeford or David tibet.
