You do get the occasional band or artist with this much passion, just not a lot of them and not consistently...

You have heard of classical music yes?? people listened to that without dancing, and also gospel - both choir and rock had people listening without dancing. I also don't think they had many people dancing to the vast majority of blues or bluegrass either. Bands like this one were around long before the fabricated boy bands like the Beatles and the Monkees and they will be around long after them too, & as it happens I have a rather comprehensive critical knowledge of modern music. 5 years worth.

I don't think you can equate slavery with 'blood for oil.'

American traditional music made people sit down and listen long before the Beatles. So did blues, blue grass, etc etc. Both White and Black southern and Appalachian music along with Irish influence made American music long before the Beatles came along. My view is the Beatles and Stones were the beginning of the end of real music. Hell the dam Stones were ripping off one old southern black musician after another...Don Mclean was right!

What does the Beatles have to do with "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"???No one gives a fuck about it.

If you dont think that The Beatles are the Measuring stick for pop/rock then you dont have any critical knowledge of modern music. The beatles single handedly legitimized the pop/rock as a art form. No other can make that claim. One could say that the "Beatles" are when people stopped dancing and started listening to the music. Without them average/mediocre bands like the "Band" would never have been heard.
