Well that's funny because I only got the information about the meaning by googling it. The meaning behind the lyrics are basically that the human species are creatures of free will whereas dancer implies that we are being changed into puppet like creatures where every action we make has to be directed by someone else

the killers dont need to go to your house and tell you its dancer, they posted it in their website, and said it in an interview with both MTV and The Times. Denser gives the song a whole different meaning, and it is not the one that they intended when they wrote the song.
