It's not always so easy to get the purebred or mixed breed dog you want from a shelter. It's not a week or two. Lol.. At least not around here. The U.S. has tons of dogs in shelters but here, it's usually old labs and pitbulls, not the cute furry ones. But yuck that doesn't mean you buy one from a pet store. No puppy mills!

I have a pure-bred chihuahua, a Xolo (Mexican Hairless) and a beautiful mix terrier all rescued from the shelter and they are fantatic dogs with NO ISSUES! Healthy too, and they know they were rescued!

I adopted a 6 month old, female purebred Sphynx that was worth $2500 from a Humane Society several years ago. I paid $100 adoption fee for her and she is fantastic. She is healthy, happy, and the best cat (maybe even best pet) I have EVER owned. And proof positive you can find purebred pets at shelters, even very young ones.

This is so true!! I have 2 purebred Miniature American Eskimos that came from SPCA's!! Also that's where I adopted my terri-poo/ bichon mutt and he is as wonderful as any purebred dog!Don't buy from pet stores (who do purchase from puppy mills and backyard breeders). There are so many wonderful purebred and mixed breed dogs in SPCA's and Rescue groups just waiting for new homes!
