Lol yes. I bred guppies, bettas, and goldfish. They sure need looottts of room. And yet people stick em in fishbowls, nuuuuu!!!

The best you can do is provide some good living conditions to him. I dunno what to say, that sounds pretty horrible. But how can an injury like that come from a filter tube? Did it have a jagged or pointy side? Or the suction of the filter? I doubt if filter suction could do that... it may be due to another illness that his side is mangled.

someone please help me! i have a pearlscale goldfish who was caught on the filter tube and i am estimating was stuck on for the whole day. his entire side is mangled and bloody. he can swim and breathe, but barely, and only swims with one side. i put in some melafix, and i will continue to do so as instructed. he is not eating, and is barely swimming. please help me. what should i do?
