Also Blue heelers can be too rough with sheep and goats that's why most people use them for cattle

hey um i thought about what u said about the balance thing and stuff well i asked a heeler breed he has been breeding heelers for 25 years and he said it has nothing to do with the agility and today my 4 mounth old one almost out ran a 4 year old lab so if u think the tail is used for balance than u dont no anything, and the breeder has had a couple born with out a tail very rare but it happens and he has had to put one down that he trained because a bull stepped on its tail

I've had several litters of ACD pups come through my home, and have never seen ANY ACD ever born "without a tail"... And yes, they do use it for balance... Watch the difference between a docked and undocked ACD working stock... you'll see. I've also never seen any undocked ACD whose tail was ever long enough, let alone in the right place, for stock animals to step on it (or bite it, which is the other excuse people use to maim their working animals at birth)

hey um the tail isnt for balance because some dogs ACD r born without tails and its not cruel if u do it when there first born but if there outside and it gets under cattle or a horse and the cattle or horse steps on its tail than what? ur dog is now in more pain than it would of ever been in twice as much as it like cutting off the tail when first born

Hey Guys! Gus was a registered Australian Cattle Dog (AKC). But he came from a crappy back yard breeder. He was born without his tail. But I liked him anyway. I bought him, then I never bothered to send in his papers, and I had him neutered. I am sure somewhere a stumpy was mixed in there or else he would have had his tail. But thanks for looking, I love him, tail or no tail. |
