Man...it's eerie how much we have in common. I assume this is probably true for anyone with social anxiety.:/

I have the same problem, I'm trying to isolate my self from society, not as a solution but because it makes me feel better. It has been around 4 weeks since I don't look outside the window and months since i dont get out the door. I'm running out of things to do here at home, sometimes i get desperate, i get negative thoughts (not depression). I have tried everything except hipnotisim, some therapist don't even know what soxial anxiety is.Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

According to another study, "fear of ridicule and reluctance to leave home were almost universal". Another study explained that "54% of all patients with cervical dystonia felt themselves observed and critically looked on by the public and had withdrawn from social activities".

According to two specialized studies on neuropsychiatry the adult population group that have a very high percentage of social phobics is the "cervical dystonics", one who have (like me) a physical illness called cervical dystonia or "twisted neck" or also called spasmodic torticollis. This group of "cervical dystonics" has around 50% of social phobics as the primary psychiatric diagnosis which is 10 times more than the average population which is around 5 %.

Do you think social anxiety could cause cervical dystonia? Although it is known that stress does not cause cervical dystonia, I began to have cervical dystonia-like symptoms just when my social anxiety was getting severe. It's just killing me.

i just wanna know what causes all of this? is it confusion? what i mean is in social situations there are alot of mental games, insinuations, people tryin to kill each other with words and such, and it leaves people confused as to what is going on and why is this happening and how does it work. Is that the reason?
