This movie relates to the story of the Odyssey in multiple ways. First off, the main character of George clooney's name is Everett Ulysses. Ulysses is the Latin form of Odysseus. Secondly, Everett is being held prisoner by the law, and Odysseus was being held prisoner (of sorts) by Calypso, the sea nymph. Thirdly, in the movie, Penny (also Penelope in the Odyssey, another name similarity), has a suitor, and Penelope had a few suitors, too. There's tons more, but I've run out of letters, so...yah

Referring to Brute, this is related to the Oddessy because Oddyessus, just like (forgot his name), wanted to get back to Ithaca, his home, and "fell" into traps. Just like in this movie, he had to get his crew and himself out of situations. Oddyessus as well.
