This video is about the commercial dog breeding industry, often referred to as puppy mills. Many people do not know this "invisible" industry even exists but it does and it is perfectly legal even though it leads to the death of millions of animals in shelters every year. Please spread the word about this industry and support those organizations working tirelessly to change laws regarding mills and to save the animals victimized by the industry. Feel free to link to this video in order to spread the word.

Let's put an end to the pain and suffering these animals endure! SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 is the anti puppy mill protest in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, aka "puppy mill capital of the world" Join us for a weekend of peaceful protest and marching in the name of all animals abused by commercial breeding!!!

Oh I totally agree! I was just commenting on one side of it-the buyers/breeders who run the puppy mills. Trust me, a day does not go by that I don't act as the voice for those animals in the shelters. My own pets all of my 56 years have been pound/shelter rescues or strays. It has to stop on both sides; the breeders who supply them and the pet stores and buyers who provide the demand for them. Unless and until it ALL is put to an end, the suffering will go on unchecked. Thanks for your reply!

While I agree that many Amish are involved with the commercial dog breeding industry, the true culprits are the people who buy these dogs from pet stores and over the internet. We create the demand. Another way to make your voice heard is to tell people what you know and encourage them to adopt from a shelter or rescue, rather than support the commercial breeding industry. I do not intend to diminish your comments, Lilmosey, just adding to them. Thanks for your post.

If you notice the pictures of the auctions, most of the buyers are Amish. The Amish use puppy mills as a way to earn money. To them, animals mean nothing to them, other than their value for profit. It needs to be stopped and NOW. There are a lot of things that can be done. Write letters to your state and federal representatives, call them, make your voice heard. BE the voice for these helpless animals. If not us, then who?
