What about DIVX?You can fit a full 720p or 1080i movie with no compression on a regular DVD in DIVX format and play it from an Xbox 360, PS3, any PC or Laptop and most importantly upscaling DVD-players that support DIVX format. It's actually real popular with torrenting as well.DIVX 720p could be a real efficient alternative as it would be inherently much cheaper and be DRM FREE!!! Both Bluray and HD-DVD required awful DRM. Most can't afford 1080p but only 720p, yet 1080i is also enough.
