AMEN!!And to those Swahili-speakers who keep moaning at Kidjo: I would love the see the day when a Kenyan or Tanzanian would sing a song in Fon, Ewe, Akan or Dyula with such power and feeling as Angelique sings Malaika!

Kidjo gets massive criticism for her pronunciation - however I discovered this beautiful song from hearing Kidjo's version on the soundtrack of a French movie - I have heard all other versions and this gets the heart and soul of the song better than any other, including that by Fhadili William. Apologies to all Swahili speakers.

This is such a WONDERFUL version of the song, I love it <3. What a great voice.I don't speak Swahili, I can't judge her accent, but quite frankly, it does not matter.Swahili is not exactly an international language, you can't expect everyone to master in it. Angélique was born in Bénin, they don't speak Swahili there. Do Kenians speak Fon well? No. So don't expect Angélique to speak Swahili perfectly either. Be fair please.
