johnny cash did NOT write this song. rick rubin suggested that johnny cash cover this song and trent reznor approved it. johnny cashes version was recorded in 2002, the original was recorded by nine inch nails in 1994. both are greater than anything words can describe. end of story.

I have to disagree, while I do like Cash's version, this original is far superior. The emotion expressed by Trend is just amazing.
