Like the other guy said, when we say we're Scottish, it's just us being proud of our heritage and most of us (in the grand scheme of things) haven't been American that long. My paternal side is almost completely of scottish heritage and I like to honor it. The only native Americans are the ones that were originally here and they aren't white.

well i kno where youre coming from, and a lot of scots see it as kinda affectionate, but on the other hand theres a huge difference between the average american and the average scot, thats where a lot of ppl get pissed off when u say youre scottish but dont kno much about scotland. i got an african friend who objects to the term african american, saying the average black american has as much in common with africa as i do, and im a white scottish dude
