So there you have it. Hydrogen economy existed in the past and still exists to this day. It just isn't used in cars anymore. Why isn't hydrogen used? Because it's not competitive with gasoline price wise for new and very efficient technologies while the old tech is bulky, uneconomical and leads to more CO2 emissions than current fuels. The future holds promise, especially considering the expected decline in oil extraction which would make gasoline much more expensive to produce.

The comparison stands. You need more energy to produce gasoline than you get out of burning it. The same is true for H2. Hydrogen has been used in the past for lighting, cooking and even heating. My home city used hydrogen in that way for 100 years before it was phased out by electricity and natural gas. It was produced by coal gasification. Today hydrogen is made in enormous quantities for use in oil refineries. During shortages of liquid fuels many cars were converted to hydrogen in Europe.

We could label everything "energy carrier" by your definition of gasoline. I am an energy carrier. Guinea pig shit. A noise. A hydrogen economy sounds just as crackpot as cold fusion sounds just as crackpot as harnessing every conceivable sound in the universe and using it to power our automobiles. I'm sure it's possible, but I highly doubt it will happen.

"Hydrogen (H) is not an energy source, there are no H reserves sitting around beneath the the soil, beneath the rocks that we can tap into the way we tapped into oil. H has to be made, yes it's often said that H is the most abundant element in the universe. True enough, tons of H on the Sun, there's tons of H in the methane on Jupiter. Where H is most abundant interestingly enough is in fossil fuels. There's more H in a gallon of gasoline than in a gallon of of liquid hydrogen!" -R.Heinberg

Were running out of oil. Were running out of natural gas. Were running out of corn. Were running out of food and water. Liars. It is price manipulation. The only thing that is running out is money in the middle class thanks to the greedy assholes.

only capitalist pig nations will truly collapse, some place still use little if none.

umm not! who the fuck cant figure out why? lol gimme a break i knew why when i was 14 years old

I've heard hydrogen gas is difficult to contain, cause it diffuses through almost anything. There should be something like a hidroaccumulation plant, were wind power surplus raises the water to a tank, from which water is again released down the turbines when energy is becoming scarce. The problem of course would be the price of such miniplant

All "free" energy is suppressed. The big question is why?

too bad cold fusion has been suppressed |
