Really its about altering our perception of reality to maximize pleasure. If we perceive a burger as something made from the gut of a cow, it isn't really helpful and enjoyable to us and is in fact damaging to our mental state. Whereas if we eat a burger while thinking something like "this burger tastes nice. I will enjoy eating this", we derive more pleasure from it; and hence attain a positive emotional state, leading to positive thought patterns; everything is just better.

I think the underlying theme of the song is the importance of communication. If we only live with our thoughts ("a woman holds her tongue" at 2:04), we find it increasingly difficult to derive intuitive pleasure from human interaction, moreover physical sensations from our external environment (suggested by the overall mathematical/logical elements of the video).We must remember, though, that the greatest pleasures in life do not come from anything manifest in this universe.
