Eichmann would have had a better hebrew pronounciation than most american born reform jews when reciting the scriptures. That's one of the most horribly sad things with jewish identity today.I like to provoce, but this is also true. I find watching a Torah reciting in a reform "temple" comical even though it's not intended to be.

A lot of american jews of 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation immigrants can't even pronounce yiddish or hebrew words properly.I met some swedish born jews of 3rd generation immigrants who spoke yiddish with an accent from pre-WW2 Lodz and even spoke polish in a way polish people claimed was excellent.Sometimes I think american jews just don't KNOW there are other kinds of jews than their own stereotypes. It's not just in comedy, it's on the Oprah show too, everywhere.

You do realise Mel Brooks himself is Jewish, I hope?Humour has to work with the best-known stereotypes available. Reality and relativity aren't nearly as funny as extremes.

Ha! The first time I saw this was about '84 or so, and had just been dosed with psilocybin- I literally thought I was gonna die, I laughed so hard. Believe me, it was literally indescribable!!!

Actually, there were no Jews (Jewish Religion) killed by the Inquisition. Nor have they been prosecuted. Converted Jews (who became Christians) were the victims of the Inquisition.

This is super funny but it annoys me that the american hollywood view on jews is completely based on the eastern/northern european ashkenazi tradition with yiddsh and all that stuff.Spanish jews were mostly sefard, they had ladino instead of yiddish, they were dark and looked arabic not russian/polish and they had more in common with moroccans and egyptians and didn't eat geknackte hönzelpönzstruttelstrittel or make schickenschnackenknackerscmakken mishmash jokes about everything.
