My Parents said they saw this film in 1975 a week after it was out[my dad is addicted to movies]and they said that the theatre was like one big roller coaster as people were screaming.some even left...they said the same thing happened in the screening of the exorcist too. And guess what ?that was where my dad met my mom.JAWS BROUGHT MY PARENTS TOGETHER !

Yeah Peter Benchley got the idea from the 1916New Jersey shark attacks. The true story is really quite interesting. I get the idea that it was the same shark that made all 5 attacks. If you look at a map that pinpoints the locations, the sharks just continued upstream. Read up on the story. You'll really enjoy it. :-)

When they pulled that girl under at the beginning, even though it was 2 divers, she was literally scared, you could tell .
