you're talking too much. Can't hear the changes.

The overhead stereo Mic set would need to be compressed... Compression is your friend...

Depends what sound you want. If you want a punchy kick and snare sound and then compress the whole kit afterwards, i suppose that means the kick and snare would come out overcompressed in comparison to the rest of the kit (well, that's my theory anyway). I must say that i always compress the kit as a whole though.

is compressing drums something people SHOULD do ( i mean the ENTIRE drum set ) ??I compress the snair and kick and thats it. if you compress the snair and kick, should you also compress the entire set AFTER the snair and kick are compressed ??

This is what pisses me off, if UAD is so good at what they do why didn't they emulate the warmth of the signal and any other distinctive characteristics? otherwise it sounds pretty much like the rest of the emulated compressors out there. And what's even worse I'm no engineer and I have to point this out so why does no one else seem to mention these things?

Agreed, but who are you mixing for: for mixing engineers or the average joe who listens to your work? Will he hear the difference?I doubt it. |
