I use to have 2 chinchillas myself who were wonderfully sweet pets. I absolutely love these animals - they're so inquisitive, adorably fluffy, and each has his or her own personality. Thank you for making this great video - an excellent introduction to the basics of 'chinnie' care. All chin owner wannabes should see this & know what's really involved in their care before getting one. Great job!

I quickly got on with the task of removing the other two chins, and picking out the dead chin. he was stiff and bloated, making it difficult to take him out. we decided to bury him straight away. an extremely unpleasant experience. we took apart the cage and cleaned every section. all the toys were thrown away and replaced, while the feeding bowls and bottles were cleaned with hot water and disinfectant. feel a little guilty for not spending more time, or checking him more thoroughly. oh well.

Im really sorryPlease take your other chinchillas to the vet and /or find out how your chinchilla died and make sure there is nothing contagious.Clean THAT cage well with a great cage cleaner, or white vinegar and water..change bedding, wash water bottles and spoutsVERY IMPORTANTIm very sorry for your loss... I know how amazingly horrible it is.My bestJamie

I have 3 males, two ebony brothers (one smaller runt) and a beige. they're all 1 - 2 years old. the runt had to be separated into the bottom cage section, with the two larger chins in the top cage. The larger ebony became less active a few days ago and we found him dead at the bottom of the cage yesterday. which sucked.

I got a chinchilla a month ago i have a three level cage. it has a water bottle hay bench a house and water bottle i was wondering if there would be room for two females in the cage its about 4x4x4

Tiki was abused and at a home being chased by kids with a baseball bat, eating gerbil food and cookies, Pedro was dropped off at a pet shop, dying of ulcers, infections, no food..he was almost dead when I took him home and went to a specialist and helped him live a great lifeI help people all the time find chinchillas in rescues..chinchillas that are homeless, have been abandoned, sometimes abused, sometimes left to dieyes..all the above

When you say you rescued a Chinchilla, do you mean you adopted one from a shelter?
