black has zero to do with it.Some of the black bass players have some powerful thick fingers, some of the white players do too.Maybe bass is more popular culturally but it has ZERO to do with race. Shit there are noname white bass players here on youtube that kick Wootens ass!The only place I'd say this comes in is with male/female.... Female bass players tend to lack the power no matter how good their technique.

I found that it's about getting the right delay between the fingers, to get solid 16th notes with straight timing, so u do a single pop motion but the fingers follow one after the other. The strange bit is the way the fingers are spaced feels odd, feels like too large a spacing, more then comfortable/normal.

I got a five string, trying to learn some of this on it but it's hard. I can't even get the other strings to note when you hit it down up with thumb. This video is like as clear as a pick but maybe it helps to have a nicer bass than an OLP? |
